Mass intentions
According to St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church:
"By [celebrating a particular intention at a Mass, a priest] applies special graces from God upon that person or intention. Similar to how we are able to intercede for others by our personal prayers, the Church is able to intercede for us through the celebration of the Mass. However, since the Eucharist is the 'source and summit of the Christian life' the Mass possesses a power that our personal prayers do not."
You can read more about the history of Mass intentions here. For each Mass intention you request, a donation amount with be requested. Remember, this is optional and is a personal decision. This donation covers the materials used during Masses and signifies the sacrificial nature of giving something of yourself (which we are all called to every time we participate in the Mass).
It's important to note that the faithful are always welcome to bring their own private intentions to Mass, which they place spiritually on the altar in prayer.To arrange for a Mass intention, contact Wilma Brannan.
