Lectio Divina (divine reading) is an ancient practice within the Church. This Advent, let me invite you to incorporate Visio Divina into your daily prayer:
Prepare: Find a quiet space. Choose an image - it could be a painting, a photograph, or an illustration - something that speaks to you spiritually.
Images to pray with this Advent (click each image to see more):
Gaze: Look at the image quietly, allowing your eyes to wander, noticing details, colors, shapes, and textures.
Meditate: Reflect on what draws your attention. What emotions or thoughts arise? What might God be revealing to you through this image?
Pray: Engage in a conversation with God about what you've seen and felt. Offer gratitude, ask for guidance, or simply sit in silent communion.
Contemplate: Allow the image to settle within you. Spend a few moments in silence, letting its message or feeling resonate.
Conclude: Close your prayer time with a brief expression of gratitude. Take note of any insights or feelings that emerged during the practice.
